The lakeside village of Ganvié, named the Venice of Africa, takes the form of a habitat of group of huts on stilts entirely built of wood and plant materials, capable of withstanding the inclement weather of the water and the climate hazards for decades.

With picturesque appeal, appreciable historical value and highly original architecture, Ganvié is the most visited tourist site in West Africa. The village has a market where the sellers, installed in their canoes, offer their goods directly to customers. A unique meeting place which nevertheless facilitates exchanges. Almost everything sold in ordinary markets can be found there. It is a unique experience.
