BEHANZIN Five-Day Tour

DAY 1 | ARRIVAL IN COTONOU BY AN INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT

You will be staying in a hotel where dinner will be served.

DAY 2 | COTONOU – BOHICON – ABOMEY – POSSOTOMÈ.

1^st Stage: Visiting the Agongouinto Underground Village in Bohicon (See more details about the site in the “Our destinations” tab.)

2^nd Stage: Leaving Bohicon for Possotomè where we will visit the natural sources of thermal water. This locality on the banks of Ahémé Lake will shelter us in one of its famous charming hotels built on stilts where we will spend the night.

DAY 3| POSSOTOMÈ – GRAND-POPO

1^st Stage: Breakfast and then leaving for Grand-Popo.

2^nd Stage: Site visit.

In this coastal city of a thousand charms, we will visit the Crab Island. We will then visit the salt island where we will see how brave women go looking for sand to extract salt from it. These women also make caramel candies from coconut oil, a true delicacy! We will later on cross the mangroves to visit the Bird Island. We will then visit “La Bouche du Roy”, where the Mono River flows into the ocean.

3^rd Stage: Picnic at “La Bouche du Roy”

4^th Stage: Spending the night in a Grand Popo hotel after a nice dinner.

DAY 4| GRAND-POPO – OUIDAH.

1^st Stage: Breakfast and then leaving the town of Ouidah. This coastal town, which was the starting point of the slave ships, shelters the vestiges of 400 years of the country’s human resources exploitation to make them work in appalling conditions, far from their lands. We will travel the Slave Route and visit each of the different stages the slaves had to go through.

2^nd Stage: In the afternoon, leaving Ouidah for Cotonou where your hotel and a good dinner await.

DAY 5 | LAST ACTIVITIES AND DEPARTURE OF PARTICIPANTS FOR THEIR RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES.

1^st Stage: Breakfast and then stroll on Cotonou beaches until evening.

2^nd Stage: Departure for your respective countries after being picked to the Cotonou International Airport.
